    Arvil L. “Al” Grubbs

    Arvil L. “Al” Grubbs, 77, passed away on November 21, 2019, at his home in Perry. Al was born October 22, 1942, in Perry to Leonard Washington Grubbs and Ruby Hazel McDaniel Grubbs.

    Al honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and retired in 1981 as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. Mr. Grubbs was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Home Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer and greeter.

    He was a member of the United Paper Union, the American Legion Post 96 and the Perry VFW #9225, where he served as commander for many years. He was also a lifetime member of Air Force Sergeants Assoc., the Gideons International and a member of The Retired Enlisted Assoc.

    Al was instrumental in coordinating and designing Taylor County Veteran’s Memorial Park.

    Al was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Ruby Grubbs, his sisters Mary Alice Davis, and Hattie Belle Helms.

    Mr. Grubbs is survived by his wife of 38 years Ola Mae Grubbs; his sons Roy A. Grubbs (Donna) Tracy Mosley (Kendra)and daughters Stacy D. Grubbs and Robin Cox (T.J.); his brothers, Jerry A. Grubbs and Leonard J. Grubbs and his sister Vivian Miller; grandchildren, Jennifer Brightwell, Allison Horn, Harlee Mosley, Christiana Diaz, TJ Ledford, Hunter Mosley, Hayden Mosley, Cassie Brooks, and Joshua Freeman; one great-grandson Oliver Patrick Horn and a great-granddaughter Camden Mosley; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Jeff Stading and Pastor Bill Lawhon officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Tallahassee National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideons International. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
