County sued over Lakey termination

Almost exactly one year after he was fired by the Taylor County Commission last November, former County Administrator Ted Lakey has filed suit against the board, alleging they violated his employment contract and due process by not providing him a hearing prior to his termination.

Perhaps the biggest allegation outlined in the suit, however, is Lakey’s claim that the commission violated Florida Sunshine Laws by meeting “in the shade” to discuss firing him prior to the Nov. 14, 2018, special meeting in which they voted 4-0 to terminate his contract.
