Robert Shelton “Bobby” Edwards Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.
A lifelong resident of Taylor County, Bobby was the son of the late Robert Shelton Edwards Sr. and Vera LaJean Hornsby-Edwards, born on Sept. 16, 1961.
Bobby was an avid golfer, loved fishing and all things Florida State University (FSU) football. He adored his grandchildren and thrived on watching them grow and succeed in life.
Over the years he was a member of many prestigious groups, including: Perry Golf & Country Club (PGCC), Madison Golf & Country Club, Perry Elks Lodge, Kiwanis Club of Perry, where he served as president from 2012-13, and the Florida State Seminoles Golden Chiefs.
Formerly, he was a member of the board of directors for Capital City Bank and Doctors’ Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 18 years, Lynda Edwards of Perry; four daughters, Shanna Lago of Perry (Phillip Lago), Sherra Reatherford of Crawfordville (Justin Reatherford), Ashley Valentine of Perry (Daniel Valentine) and Kendra “Cissi” Murphy of High Springs (Dustin Murphy); seven grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Cash, Greyson, Cooper, Nixon and soon-to-be Andie; two sisters, Shelly Cruce of Perry (Jerry Cruce) and Sandy Bowden of Bunnell; a brother, Tommy Edwards of Perry (Lisa Edwards); and innumerable close friends who were like family.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held today (Friday) at 4 p.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Perry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 3-4 p.m.
