State Attorney steps down

Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister unexpectedly announced his retirement this week with just under one year remaining on his current term in office.

Siegmeister’s sudden resignation, effective Monday, Dec. 23, was announced to staff members in Third Circuit offices located in Taylor, Columbia, Suwannee, Hamilton, Madison, Dixie and Lafayette counties on Monday, Dec. 16.
