Former Perry Police Department (PPD) officer Chad Cannon has filed suit against the City of Perry seeking damages and other relief in excess of $30,000, claiming he was a “protected whistle-blower” who was retaliated against and “wrongfully terminated” after he reported “unlawful employment activities and criminal conduct.”
In a seven-page complaint filed the evening of Dec. 19 by Tallahassee attorney Marie Mattox in Third Judicial Circuit Court, Cannon outlines a long list of claims and allegations of criminal conduct against many fellow PPD officers and command staff, including: racist/ sexist conduct, sex on duty, discrimination, harboring a fugitive, driving under the influence, providing alcohol to minors, sexual battery and use of illegal or controlled substances.
