Legacy of bravery, honor and courage recognized

    Posted on January 8, 2020

FDOT presented Ed Sheffield (seated, center) with a commemorative edition of the sign bearing his name that now stands at the Econfina Bridge.

Ed Sheffield’s legacy is far greater than what he endured during his 37 and one-half months spent in North Korean war camps nearly seven decades ago.

It lies beyond his sheer survival in the face of man’s inhumanity toward his fellow man and serves as an inspiration not only to his family and community, but also to the young men and women today who – like him – answered the call to service.
