‘Gender neutral’ titles for city council members?

One member of the city council is suggesting the local government agency move to “gender neutral” titles instead of using the traditional “councilman” or “councilwoman” before each member’s name.

Near the end of the city’s most recent Jan. 14 meeting, Councilwoman Shirley Hampton brought up the proposal during the “City Council Requests” segment of the agenda.
