Do you want to know more about the Oscar-nominated films before the award ceremony airs on Sunday, Feb. 9?
Writer Mark Viola, who has been reviewing movies for Perry Newspapers, Inc. for the past 14 years, will present a program about the Oscars and the nominees on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Taylor County Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
“The Oscars are like the Super Bowl of movies,” Viola said. “A lot of people watch the Super Bowl who don’t follow either team, or even regularly watch football. In the same way, a lot of people watch the Oscars even if they haven’t seen many of the nominated films.
“My hope is that the evening will be both fun and informative,” he said. “By talking about the movies and showing trailers, hopefully everyone will have a better idea of what films were nominated — and have the best chance to win — and maybe even see a movie or two they might want to watch.”
