Jean Hall Childs, 91, passed away on Feb. 5, 2020 at Lakeview Terrace in Altoona.
Jean was born on Aug. 26, 1928, to Charles T. and Ida Mae Hall in Tampa.
She married Robert Childs on June 13, 1948, and moved to Louisville, Ky. A few years later they moved to Memphis, Tenn., and finally settled down in Perry in 1953 where they raised their family.
Jean was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Perry. She served as secretary to several Florida legislators in Tallahassee and was president of the Junior Woman’s Club of Perry.
She enjoyed being a homemaker, working in the yard and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jean was predeceased by: her parents; three brothers, Joseph Hall, Wilbur Hall and Morris Hall; and one sister, Kathlyn Hall Haefner Hare.
She is survived by: her husband of 71 years, Robert; two brothers, Wendell Hall of Tampa and Kenneth Hall of Clermont; son, Richard Childs (Beth) of Belleview; daughter, Karen Griffiths (Joseph) of New Smyrna Beach; three grandsons, Robert Childs (Veronica) of Stuart, Michael Childs (Yaritza) of Gainesville and Scott Childs (Tabitha) of Farmersville, Ill.; and five great-granddaughters, Bella, Kaylan, Avery, Rylie and Sadie.
A celebration of her life will be held at Burns’ Funeral Home in Perry, Florida on Monday, February 10, with a visitation at 11 a.m. and a funeral service at noon, followed by graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetary.
