    High winds

A passing storm system brought high winds and rain to the area Thursday, leaving downed trees and power outages in its wake.

Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management Director Kristy Anderson reported, “The storm surge we experienced was a little higher than a normal high tide. We had more than 15 trees/large branches down around the county, blocking roads in which first responders along with public works/DOT worked through the evening and the next day to remove. Large power outages were also prevalent, however most were restored by Friday morning.”
