Perry Police Department (PPD) Det. Bill Murray received a heart transplant during the early morning hours Wednesday, less than a month after being placed on the transplant list due to critical congestive heart failure.

Doctors at Shands Hospital in Gainesville performed the surgery at 2 a.m. after the family received word just hours before that a donor heart had become available.
