Donald D. Asmus

Donald D. Asmus, 70, died Monday, February 17, 2020, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. 

He was born on December 29, 1949, in South Bend, Ind., to Donald and Lois (Ley) Brooks. 

He graduated from Niles High School in 1968, served his country in the United States Army and attended the University of Michigan. 

After school he went to work for Proctor & Gamble in Cheboygan, Mich. 

Don married Deborah Rene Deming on November 21, 1970, in Niles, Mich. 

Don moved his family to Perry, in 1986 where he ultimately retired from Buckeye Technologies, formerly Proctor & Gamble, in 2013. 

In his spare time Don enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, flying airplanes, watching football, NASCAR and, most importantly, spending time with Debbie and his grandchildren. 

Don was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach. 

Don is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; two sons, Scott (Angela) Asmus, Houston, Texas, Ryan (Heather) Asmus, Lake City; two grandsons, Zane Asmus, Houston, Texas, and Wesley Asmus, Lake City; three granddaughters, Allie, Gracie, and Sophia Asmus, Lake City; one sister, Alice (Larry) Fisher, Peru, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Asmus, Niles, Mich., and Thomas Asmus, New Boston, Texas; along with several nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Thomas Asmus and Donald Brooks. 

The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Christ Episcopal Church at 400 San Juan Dr. in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., 32082, followed by a celebration of life from 12–1:30 p.m., also at Christ Episcopal Church.
