Mrs. Jean Hart, 92, of Mayo passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Lafayette Health Care following a brief illness.
Jean was born Nov. 14, 1927 in Waycross, Ga., to Everette Simeon Burns and Lillian Ethel Sorrels Burns.
She grew up in Perry, where she attended and graduated from Taylor County High School.
Following high school, she attended beauty school in Jacksonville and then moved to Mayo where she met and married Mitchel Hart in 1948.
She worked as a beautician all of her adult life and owned and operated the “Happy Feet & Happy Hair” beauty shop in Mayo.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Mayo Methodist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Mitchel Hart, in 2014; a grandson, Greg Hart, in 2000; a brother, Clifford Burns, in 2012; and her son-in-law, Moray Taylor, in 2013.
She is survived by: a son, Michael Hart, and wife, Pat, of Mayo; a daughter, Angie Taylor, of Live Oak; four grandchildren, Holly (Troy) Hamlin, Nancy (Joe) Taylor, Ashley (Nickey) Taylor, and Jason (Barbara) Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Jones, Taylor Livingston, Cody Hamlin, Cassidy Livingston, Gavin Taylor and Garrett Taylor; and two great-great grandchildren, Tristan Jones, and Rowyn Livingston.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hart will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with the Rev. Dallas Monismith officiating and the Rev. Tim Hamm assisting. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, also at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
