Joe Louis White passed away on March 7, 2020, at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital. He was born April 29, 1941, to the late Rev. Walter White and Athena White.
Joe Louis was dedicated to his Christian outreach ministry. He was a boxer, ever after his professional fight days were over.
Joe Louis is survived by: his children, Chechanda White, Josie W. Burney, Shelene C. White, Terry White, Barbara White, Pauline (Victor) Hawkins, Tammy (Greg) W. Flowers, Joyce (Fernada) W. Hurst, Derrick (Saundra) White, Mary Woodard, Alecia Rivers, Nino White, Shawn White, Joseph White, Lewis White, Keena White, Angela White and Delonda Washington; 33 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Walter M. Whetsel, Dorothy (James) Crooms and Diane Lee, all of Perry; three brothers, J.C. (Rose) White of Charlotte, N.C., Terry White and Terry Morris of Perry; a sister-in-law, Frankie White of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Joe Louis will be Saturday, March 14, at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive M.B. Church. The public viewing is Friday, March 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Church of God of Prophecy.
Interment will follow at the Springhill Cemetery.
