    Posted on March 13, 2020

Spring break for Taylor County School District students will now last two weeks after state officials ordered schools across the state to be closed March 23-27 due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

“We were just informed by the Governor and Commissioner of Education on a 4 p.m. conference call, that there will be NO School following the week after Spring Break (March 23-27),” Taylor County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover Jr. said in a message to the community late Friday afternoon.

“We will plan to communicate more information as it becomes available. All extracurricular activities are canceled for the next two weeks as well. The Florida Standards Assessment has also been delayed for two weeks. They have asked that we use these days for extra cleaning in our schools. This mandate has been issued for all School Districts in Florida.”

Under the current directive from the state, classes will resume Monday, March 30, but that subject to change.
