    Posted on March 19, 2020

Elvan LaVelle “Denny” Denmark, 80, peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal life on March 15, 2020, at his home in Tallahassee.

Denny was born on Feb. 11, 1940, at home in Perry to TJ and Willie Mae Denmark. He was one of seven children.

Denny graduated from Taylor County High School (TCHS), Class of 1959, in Perry.

He joined the Air Force in 1962 and was based in Homestead with Strategic Air Command. He served four years and spent two years in the Reserve.

He later went to work for National Airlines at Miami International Airport for 23 years and worked through the acquisition of Pan American World Airways.

He and his wife then moved to Tallahassee in 1992, and he became an H-VAC Tech at Florida A&M University in 1994. He worked there until retirement in 2000.

Denny was welcomed into Heaven’s gates by: his parents, TJ and Willie Mae Denmark; brothers, Simmie Ray and Donald Cleve; sister, Patsy Nell; son, Bruce Denmark; son-in-law, Charles Wesley Blue; grandson, Michael Denmark; and best friend, Hilliard Underhill.

Denny is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Mary Christy Denmark; three daughters, Robin Denmark Blue of Perry, Tara Denmark of Kendall (Fla.) and Marya Denmark of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Robert, Chris, Victoria, Matthew, Katelyn and Emma; sisters, Maxie (Garland) Stout and Peggy (Robert) York; baby brother, Tommy (Barbara) Denmark; and dear friend, Josh; as well as a host of in-laws, friends, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Denny was an amazing man of God who is now living pain free, walking on streets of gold. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by many, but his light and wisdom that he left here on this Earth will never dim.

The family will hold a private service today (Friday) at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, where Denny will be buried.
