    23 tested locally: all negative

    As of Thursday afternoon, 23 people in Taylor County had tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19).

    To date, no one in the county has tested positive for the disease, according to figures from the Florida Department of Heath (DOH). The number of local negative tests were up from 12 on Tuesday.

    There were also no confirmed positive cases reported in any of Taylor’s adjoining neighboring counties, including: Dixie (12 negative tests as of Thursday afternoon); Jefferson (eight negative tests); Lafayette (eight negative tests and one pending) and Madison (16 negative tests and one pending).

    Meanwhile, the closest confirmed cases are in Leon County, where nine people have tested positive and 289 have tested negative with nine pending tests.

    According to DOH’s 11 a.m. update on Thurday, there were 2,355 confirmed cases in Florida, including 2,235 residents and 120 non-residents. (DOH updates are released at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day).

    To date, 28 people have died from the disease in Florida.
