Effective Thursday, April 2, access to the Fenholloway River at Hick’s Landing boat ramp will be closed to the public — except for commercial fishermen.
“In the interest of health and safety for Taylor County residents, we have decided to temporarily close the Hick’s Landing boat ramp to the general public,” Georgia-Pacific (GP) Foley Public Affairs Manager Scott Mixon said.
“Hampton Springs Road, just beyond the Spring Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA), and Old Club House Road will be closed to traffic while Hick’s Landing is closed,” he added.
“Commercial fisherman will continue to have access to the Gulf through the Hick’s Landing boat ramp located at the Fenholloway River,” Mixon stated.
“Pipeline construction teams will control access for commercial fisherman to Hick’s Landing daily during normal working hours. Road closure signs will be installed and in use after normal working hours,” he said.
“Safety is one of our highest priorities. Please watch out for workers and equipment while traveling on roads near pipeline construction sites,” Mixon added.
“We will continue to work with local authorities and provide residents with information about construction activity in their area.”
