To date, Charles Praytor (above, back left) has fielded requests for nearly 1,000 of the plastic contraptions he has made at home with the help of his two trusty 3D printers. “I belong to a 3D printing group on Facebook and we have been sharing ideas about what we can do to help during this crisis. I saw this and got started,” Praytor said. He is currently able to produce 80 Ear Savers a day and has distributed hundreds to local healthcare workers. “I’ve tried to include motivational messages on many of the Ear Savers, like ‘Stay Strong’ and ‘Hero at Work’ because I believe that is so important.”
Local residents are quickly finding out a little-known fact that nurses have long faced – wearing a face mask for a long time hurts your ears.
Thankfully, one local 3D printer enthusiast has developed a cure for that in the form of colorful “Ear Savers.”
