    Tornado touch down

    on shore between Dekle Beach and Deadman’s Curve just north of Keaton Beach just before dusk. With peak winds of 100 mph, the tornado uprooted posts anchored in concrete and twisted metal at Keaton Beach Boat Storage on Beach Road. Despite numerous boats and RVs being stored on the property, only an airboat owned by property owner Allen Carter suffered minor damage.

    A severe spring storm passed over Taylor County Thursday night, spawning a tornado that impacted the coastal area and damaged units at Keaton Beach Boat Storage. The swift-moving storm brought with it thunder, lightning and, at times, heavy rain. Brief power outages were felt in some parts of the county.

    According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the line of severe weather Thursday evening spawned an EF-1 tornado that moved on shore between Dekle Beach and Deadman’s Curve just north of Keaton Beach just before dusk.
