A 55-year-old Branford man, who was not identified by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), rolled his loaded log truck on Highway 19 South Monday afternoon and was airlifted from the scene to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for possible serious injuries.
The crash happened at 12:50 p.m. just north of the Highway 19/Tennille intersection. The driver was traveling northbound when, for unknown reasons, the log truck left the highway and overturned. Logs scattered across the highway, blocking both northbound lanes. A construction crew working nearby was able to assist responding emergency units by using a front-end loader to push the truck upright and clear the logs out of the roadway and into the median.
