The Department of Health of Taylor County will be offering free drive-thru COVID-19 testing to the community each Thursday morning through the month of May.
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Thursday in May, individuals who are 18 or older and have a valid ID may get tested for COVID-19 at the DOH-Taylor office, located at located at 1215 N. Peacock Avenue.
No symptoms of the virus are needed to be tested, nor is an appointment or doctor’s referral required. However, individuals are required to pre-register by calling (850) 584-5087.
Upon arriving at the DOH-Taylor office, individuals will be routed to a drive-thru area outside the health department’s main building.
Individuals must remain in their vehicle with their window rolled down, through which a healthcare professional will administer a nasopharyngeal swab – or a nasal swab – which collects a sample from the back of the nose and throat.
“This is not a rapid-response antibody test. Results may take several days or longer to receive. After taking the test, individuals will be given information on what to expect while awaiting results,” a DOH-Taylor press release stated.
Additional dates and testing locations are to be determined.
