The Taylor County Commission has agreed to continue allocating 25% of the proceeds from the local one-cent sales tax to the Taylor County Sheriff’s office for an additional three years to pay for capital equipment purchases.
The county commission’s original agreement to provide one-quarter of the county’s share of one-cent sales tax proceeds (estimated at $450,000 per year) runs out this year, prompting Sheriff Wayne Padgett to approach the board at its March 18 meeting to ask the board to consider extending the arrangement.
