    Margie Norman Stewart

    Mrs. Margie Norman Stewart, 85, passed away on May 15, 2020, at Oakridge Assisted Living Facility in Mayo.

    Margie was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Moultrie, Ga., to Marion Thomas Norman and Christine Connell Norman.

    She was a 1951 graduate of Colquitt County High School and then went on to graduate with an associate degree from North Florida Community College.

    She met Loran Stewart at church in Moultrie and they were married in 1952. They moved to Perry in 1957 when Loran went to work at Buckeye Cellulose.

    Margie was a longtime and active member of First Baptist Church of Perry.

    She worked as a secretary with the Taylor County School System for nearly 30 years before her retirement, after which she helped her daughter and son-in-law at Fiddlers Restaurant in Steinhatchee, where her sweet treats will be missed.

    In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, serving her church and traveling.

    Margie was preceded in death by: her parents, Marion Norman and Christine Norman Brooks; her husband, Loran Stewart in 2002; two brothers, James and Marcus Norman; and two sisters, Peggy Oglesby and Patsy Kown.

    She is survived by: two daughters, Gail Parsons, and husband Wayne, of Georgetown, Texas, and Joyce Hunt, and husband Jim, of Steinhatchee; two sisters, Frances Collins of Cumming, Ga., and Brenda Cliatt of Midland, Ga.; four grandchildren, Christie, Angie, Jared and Jill; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Eli, Caleb, Nathan, Chloe, Amelia and one due any day; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    A graveside committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, in Woodlawn Cemetery with Brother Jason Palmer officiating and Brother Steven Ruff assisting.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home at www.fbchomes.org.
