While Taylor County is already dealing with the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, another threat looms on the horizon — the start of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season on Monday, June 1.
Forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center are expecting an “above-normal” season when it comes to hurricane activity this year. The outlook predicts a 60% chance of an above-normal season, a 30% chance of a near-normal season and only a 10% chance of a below-normal season.
