    Ray Leroy Padgett

    Ray Leroy Padgett , 86, passed away on May 21, 2020, in Perry.

    Ray was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Perry to Elza P. Padgett and Doveree Grantham Padgett.

    Ray honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.

    Ray was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Ray worked with Buckeye as a millwright for 33 years.

    Ray loved woodworking, and spending time on his tractor. But most of all he loved his family.

    Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Elza P. Padgett and Doveree Grantham Padgett, and his brother, Robert Padgett.

    Ray is survived by: his wife, Margaret Padgett; his sons, Michael Ray and his wife, Susan, Padgett, Keith Dewayne and his wife, Janise, Padgett, Bill and his wife, Cinament, Newman, Michael and his wife, Lee, Newman, and Ricky and his wife, Kim, Hill; daughters, Michelle Spahn and Nancy and her husband, Jimmy, Pittman; his sister, Marilyn Pepper; 34 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Big Bend Hospice.
