Film festivals are where many of the movies we see in theaters make their original debut. Some major festivals, like Sundance and Cannes, are where Academy Award hopefuls begin their campaign for cinematic prominence. The Tribeca Film Festival — which is relatively new, having been started in the early 2000s by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal — has become an increasingly important event on the festival circuit.

With most film festivals this year canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube have partnered to create “We Are One: A Global Film Festival,” a free 10-day online festival, exclusively on YouTube. The festival began May 29 and will run through Sunday, June 7.
