Joseph “Joe” Lyles Jr., 70, entered Heaven’s gates from his home on June 3, 2020, in Perry, with his family at his side.
He was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Clearwater to Joseph Lyles Sr. and Elsie Mae Ward Lyles.
Mr. Lyles was a faithful Christian of the Baptist faith and was an active member of New Home Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Joe was a longtime carpenter around Taylor County.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Elsie Mae Lyles Sr.; and his brother, Carroll Lyles.
Joe is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Carol Lyles; his children, Stephanie Danielle Gillette (Roger), Joseph “Joe” William Lyles (Carla) and Jessica Suzanne Baumgardner (Ryan); grandchildren, Trent Thomas, Marissa Thomas, Elijah Williams, Maddie Lyles, Will Lyles and Josie Lyles; and his siblings, Mary Thompson, Pat Landers and Sammy Lyles; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 4 p.m. at Pineview Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Bill Jenkins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Joe asked that donations be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
