Phase 2 includes theaters, but don’t expect them to open yet

Since last week’s announcement by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that Phase 2 of his state recovery plan includes allowing movie theaters to re-open at 50% capacity, I’ve had quite a few questions about whether this will change when we could see cinemas opening in our area.

The short answer is “No.” When it comes to the major theater chains, we’re most likely still looking at sometime in July, assuming we don’t see major backsliding in the state’s recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, not to mention the country’s and the world’s.
