    Posted on June 24, 2020

The local Department of Health (DOH) will offer free coronavirus (COVID-19) testing to Taylor County residents on Friday, June 26 at a drive-thru site set up at the entrance to the old hospital.

From 7-9 a.m., Taylor County residents can be tested for COVID-19 at 407 Ash Street in Perry.

At this time, the free drive-thru testing will be available at the entrance to the old hospital on July 10 and July 17. The scheduled hours have not yet been determined.

DOH-Taylor also plans to offer free testing in Steinhatchee on Monday, July 20, but the time and place have not yet been determined.

No symptoms or a doctor’s referral are necessary to be tested, but registration is required as there are a limited number of tests available for each day.

    To register, call DOH-Taylor at (850) 584-5087.

To be tested, an individual must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid ID and have access to a workable window. Walk-ups are welcome for those without access to a vehicle.

According to figures released by the DOH at 11 a.m. Tuesday, 1,367 people in Taylor County had been tested for coronavirus, yielding 69 positive results (5% of the tested population).

To date, Taylor County has reported six hospitalizations and zero deaths.
