    Kathleen C. Bennett, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020, in Perry.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home in Perry followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Madison at 3 p.m.

    The family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Kathleen was born and raised in Madison County. She graduated from Madison High School in 1957.  She moved to Valdosta, Ga., and was employed by Belcher’s Drug Store.

    She met and married Virgil Bennett, and they moved to Perry in 1959 where she was employed by Lockhart Drug Store. She worked for Billy Link, Town Finance, Citizens Bank, First Federal Savings and Loan, Perry Cable, Florida Video and Comcast. She attended First Baptist Church in Perry.

    She loved Civil War trivia and working in her flowers. She was very athletic and participated in Perry basketball league, softball league and bowling league. She umpired softball and baseball in women and men’s leagues. She loved sports.

    Mrs. Bennett was predeceased by her parents, Jesse James and Marie D. Raines Clayton; one brother, Stewart Brenn Clayton; one grandson, Josh Cook; and one granddaughter, Cheyenne Cook.

    She is survived by: her daughter, Sandy K. Cook of Perry; one brother, Edmond Douglas Clayton of Perry; and cousins, Debra Raines and Martha Waddail, Tony Banks, Colby Waddail, and Opie Agener.
