Dr. Wyatt R. Taylor

Dr. Wyatt R. Taylor, “Papa,” passed away on June 27 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, following an extended illness. Wyatt was born on February 6, 1940, in Mayo to Thomas and Leone Sherrod Taylor.

He was a retired Optometrist practicing in North Florida for more than 50 years and was a member of the Optometric Association for 53 years.

Wyatt was also an active Rotarian serving clubs in Tallahassee, Perry, and Mayo. In his free time, he loved to hunt wild game, especially deer, elk, quail and turkey.

He is survived by: his wife of 21 years, Faith; a sister, Kay Glatzer, and husband Reece; five children, Kim, Thom, Karen (Mach), Donna (Stacy) and Richard (Miguel); three grandchildren, Piper, Zoe and Jade (Brandon); and two great-grandchildren, Korbin and Adilynn.

No services are scheduled at this time. Donations may be made in Wyatt’s memory to the Mayo Rotary Club.
