The recreational gag grouper season in state waters off Franklin, Wakulla, Taylor and Jefferson counties closed last Wednesday (July 1) and will remain closed until September 1.
While local anglers can still catch and keep gag grouper in federal waters (beyond nine nautical miles from shore), they will have to wait until the state season re-opens again (Sept. 1- Dec. 31) to be able to harvest gag grouper in state waters (within nine nautical miles off shore) off the coast of Franklin, Wakulla, Taylor and Jefferson
counties.
