Yard sale will benefit local Habitat

    Posted on July 8, 2020

Large and small appliances, games, dishes, books, art work, clothing, building materials and more will be offered for sale by Taylor County Habitat for Humanity at their upcoming yard sale this Saturday, July 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 203 East Drew Street.

Executive Director Karol Newport Barr said that many generous community members have donated items to be sold to help with operating expenses of the local non-profit organization.

“We are so grateful to all these people for donating to our cause,” she said.

Residents are also reminded that Friday, July 10, is the deadline to submit an application for a Taylor County Habitat for Humanity home-build in Steinhatchee.

Qualified applicants must meet requirements for income and safety needs, Director Karol Newport Barr said.

The selected applicant must be able to pay the interest-free mortgage payments, which include insurance and ad valorem taxes, she explained.

To date, 11 people have picked up application forms.

“The applications will be reviewed and families will go through a personal screening process before the lucky homeowner is chosen. We hope to have the family selected by mid- August so we can begin the construction,” Barr said.
