    A time to live, a time to die, a time to plant

    When Taylor County work crews sawed into one of the downed pines, they discovered that its base had turned into lightered wood.

    Taylor County’s signature longleaf pines have towered over countless community gatherings at Forest Capital Park for more than a century, standing watch over generation after generation.

    But, to all things there is a season. And, for a handful of the faithful old guardians, the time has come to return to the dust (or sawdust) from whence they came.
