After discussing the future of ambulance service for the past seven months, the Taylor County Commission agreed during a special meeting on Monday to seek bids from third-party companies to take over emergency medical services (EMS) from Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH).
The 3-2 vote also included giving DMH an additional $20,000 per month (on top of the existing $37,500 monthly subsidy the county provides the hospital to operate the EMS service) until a third-party company is ready to take over.
