Richard Roland McGowan

Mr. Richard Roland McGowan, 81, passed away on July 24, 2020, in Perry.

He was born Aug. 25, 1938 in Tampa to Mr. John Carl McGowan and Mrs. Ruth Emma Schmidt McGowan.

Richard honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family.

Richard was preceded in death by: his parents, Ruth Emma Schmidt and John Carl McGowan; a brother, Raymond McGowan; a sister, Barbara Fudge; and a son, Jerald Thomas McGowan.

He is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Oleita McGowan; sons, Richard R. McGowan Jr., John Charles McGowan, Martin Brown and Robert Brown; daughters, Susan Joyce Estrada, Donna Jean Brunett, Cindy Levengood and Charlotte R. Martinez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry McGowan; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Sandhill Cemetery with Brother  Herbie High officiating.  The family received friends from 9-10 a.m. Prior to the service at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.

All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
