BBQ fest snuffed out by COVID-19

For the first time in more than a decade, the smell of smoked ribs, chicken, pork and brisket will not be wafting through the pines at Forest Capital Park this year, as state and local COVID-19 guidelines led to the cancellation of the 2020 “Smokin’ in the Pines” BBQ Festival in September.

“It is with much disappointment that I announce to you that for the first time in 12 years, we will not be able to hold the Smokin’ in the Pines BBQ Festival and competition in Perry set for this September, due to the coronavirus pandemic,” stated Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Viola Perez.
