Betty Ann Hatcher, 86, died July 31, 2020.
She was born in Foley on April 16, 1934, to Cecil and Irene Poitevint.
During her career as a registered nurse, she worked in Taylor County as a public health nurse for seven years and then part-time with Buckeye for 14 years.
She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church (formerly known as Foley Baptist Church), located on Hwy 19 in Perry. She was a willing worker with the young people and then as adult ladies Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include: three sons, Vernon L Hatcher Jr. of Hinesville, Ga., Gregory L. Hatcher of Denver, Colo., and Edmund Bradley Hatcher of Perry; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Louise Scott of Perry; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including Sheila Collins of Perry.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Hatcher Sr., and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kathleen Hatcher.
A private funeral service will be held at Burns Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Monday, Aug. 3, at noon, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Baptist Children Home, Big Bend Hospice or the charity of your choice.
