On Aug, 1, 2020, Margaret Carolyn St. John Horton, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after an extensive battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Elvin Horton, and her parents, James (Jim) Edward St. John Sr. and Jamie Margaret Clark St. John.
Margaret was born in Perry on June 3, 1933, where she has lived all of her life. She enjoyed attending church, sewing, cooking, reading, traveling, gardening and crocheting.
She worked for 23 years at Winn-Dixie and most recently worked at Doctor’s Memorial Hospital, retiring at age 77.
She is survived by: two daughters, Pamela Johnson (Bobby) of Perry and Genelle Horton of Pensacola; one grandson, Jonathan Johnson of Perry; great-granddaughter, Adrianne Johnson; and great-grandson, Matthew Holden
She is also survived by: her sisters, Sara Altman of Crawfordville and Marilyn Dupree of Perry; and her brother, James E. St. John Jr. of Milton.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. At Joe Burns Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately afterward in Carlton Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
