The great thing about movies is, if you find the right one, it can provide exactly what you’re looking for. Want high art or a story that will challenge you? Want high-octane action or creepy thrills to get the blood pumping? Want a sweet romance or perhaps something a little edgier?
There are movies to satisfy all of these desires and more.
For me, sometimes, especially in 2020, I just want escapism, a movie that I can simply sit back and enjoy and spend two hours not thinking about the world.
That’s exactly what I was looking for when I clicked on the new Netflix movie, “The Sleepover,” and that’s exactly what it delivered.
The comedy action flick never pretends to be anything more than it is — a silly, sometimes ridiculous, family movie that made me laugh a lot more than perhaps it actually deserved. I’ve knocked a couple films lately for not aiming high enough with their stories, but I have to admit, sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and laugh.
