‘Save the date’ for next Habitat yard sale Oct. 3

    Posted on September 4, 2020

Furniture, small appliances, games, dishes, books, artwork, like new toys, clothing, building materials and more will be offered for sale by Taylor County Habitat for Humanity at its yard sale slated Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event will be held at the 203 East Drew Street office.

“We have quite a few holiday decorations and dishes,” said Executive Director Karol Newport Barr. “This would be a good time for early Christmas planning at really good prices.”

She added that many generous community members have donated items to be sold to help with operating expenses of the local non profit organization.

“We are accepting donations of items for the sale, and ask that anyone who has items they might want to add give us a call. We are so thankful to people who have already contributed items to us,” she said.

Habitat is currently reviewing the applications of three families who have qualified to this point in the process to be the owners of a home to be built in Steinhatchee, Barr said.

“We hope to have the family selected by mid- September so we can begin the construction,” she added.

The successful applicant must be able to pay the interest-free mortgage payments, which include amounts for insurance and ad valorem taxes, she explained.

Additionally, they must meet the Habitat requirements for health and safety needs of family members.
