    Jessie Oliver

    Jessie Oliver, 81, of Perry was born on Oct. 30, 1938, to the late Rubin and Caretha Ervin and passed away in Atlanta, Ga., on Aug. 29, 2020, at Northside Hospital Gwinnett Medical Center after a brief illness.

    Jessie attended Florida A&M University where she graduated with both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education.

    She went on to become a schoolteacher with the Taylor County School District, teaching several generations over many decades.

    Her passion in life was loving and caring for her family. However, Jessie also enjoyed teaching, baking and being a blessing to others.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Oliver Sr.; a daughter, Angela Oliver-Howard; three brothers; and two sisters.

    Jessie, a beloved mother, sister and grandmother, is survived by: two sons, Troy Oliver Jr. (Sycbrathia) and Jerome Oliver (Michelle); two sisters, Bessie Dowdell (Alphonso) and Ruby Thomas (Eddie); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    Visitation will be held today (Friday) at Trinity Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is required to wear a face mask for the visitation.

    A private funeral service will be held for the family.

    Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
