Assault with belt, rifle

A brutal domestic violence incident in which a man attacked a woman with a belt and then threatened her and her mother with a deer rifle ended with his arrest nearly three weeks later.

Joseph Travis Murphy, 45, was booked Friday, Sept. 11, on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, battery and criminal mischief/property damage after a warrant came down from the State Attorney’s Office.
