    Water everywhere

    Mandalay Road near the Aucilla River was covered with water Wednesday after the river gauge at Mandalay/Nutall Rise recorded 5.3 feet of storm surge during high tide.

    While areas to the west received more than 24 inches of rain, the National Weather Service estimated Taylor County received 4-6 inches from Hurricane Sally. Steinhatchee and the beaches area had three feet of storm surge during high tide Wednesday, when maximum winds reached 34 mph. Local Emergency Management officials received no reports of tornado damage, although there was a tornado warning around midnight Wednesday.
