A federal investigation into former Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister has led to the federal government pursuing forfeiture claims to seize Siegmeister’s home and 70-acre farm in Suwannee County in connection with allegations he swindled nearly $1 million from a dead man’s estate.
The scheme came to light during a federal public corruption investigation initiated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the summer of 2018 regarding allegations that Siegmeister was soliciting bribes from defendants and their attorneys in exchange for favorable prosecution treatment by his office.
