Glover: No evidence of racial discrimination

    Posted on October 16, 2020

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover Jr. has responded to a leaked report detailing the findings of an investigation into alleged racial discrimination regarding the hiring practices within the Taylor County School District (please see related story).

“This complaint centered around a minority applicant not being chosen for a guidance counselor position at one of our schools. The formal investigation concluded their findings and broke those findings into two distinct categories. The first category focused primarily on the accusation of racial bias, and the official report concluded, ‘It is the decision of this panel that there is no evidence to support Ms. (Oriel) Blalock’s claim that she was racially discriminated against in this instance regarding this position.’ The second category findings again concluded that there was ‘no evidence the Taylor County School District actively discriminates against applicants or employees.’ Nevertheless, the report indicated that policies and practices are generalized and not enough to absolve the district of its’ need to be more inclusive,” Glover said.
