Buckeye merger with GP finalized

Buckeye Technologies Inc. has announced that it expects to finalize its merger with Georgia-Pacific today (Friday, Aug. 23).

In a brief press release issued Thursday, the company said that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice granted termination of the waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvement Act of 1976, as amended, for the previously announced proposed acquisition by merger of Buckeye by GP Cellulose Group LLC, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific LLC.
