While Tropical Storm Eta made landfall within 100 miles of Perry just south of Cedar Key early Thursday morning, it appears the biggest impact the system had on Taylor County was giving local school children an unexpected day out of school.
While forecasters had a hard time narrowing down the eventual path of the storm — in one 36-hour period the predicted landfall shifted from Tampa to Pensacola and back again — local officials announced Wednesday that schools would be closed Thursday due to Eta.
