Toll road task force submits final report

After 15 months of meetings and public hearings, the Suncoast Corridor Task Force delivered its final report to the governor and legislature late last week, stating the 41-member group did not reach a conclusion that there is a need for a completely new transportation corridor along the west coast of Florida.

The report also states the task force’s preference that if the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) ultimately determines there is a need, the agency should first look at the improvement or enhancement of existing major highway corridors.
